Mr David Viner - Go Home

Mr. David Viner returns with Ed Harcourt-produced single

After a 2007 spent touring with the White Stripes and recording with Ed Harcourt, folk anti-hero Mr. David Viner returns this month with the release of his new single ‘Go Home’. The Harcourt-produced track is a bittersweet duet with New York singer/songwriter and new Heavenly signing Jaymay, featuring Viner’s finger-picked guitar backed by a stripped-down band of cello, double bass and drums. ‘The most pleasingly woebegone song you’ve heard in ages,’ said The Guardian’s Laura Barton, who picked the track for her Friday Review Playlist. ‘A musical suicide note’ is how Viner describes it. Viner, 26, first emerged from a cloud of roll-up smoke in 2003, with the release of his eponymous debut album on the Hollywood Dim Mak label. His second album, This Boy Don’t Care followed a year later on Loog. Tours have included support slots with Spiritualized, blues legend Dr. John and, most recently, the White Stripes on their 2007 European tour. The Band are: Mr. David Viner (vocals/guitar), Alice Gunn (backing vocals/cello), Ben Swank (drums) and John Cheeseman (double bass). ‘Go Home’ is released on March 31 on Ambiguous Records – available on limited edition vinyl and itunes.
