The Mores

"Born from the Abba addled brains of Robbie Moore and Alex Metcalfe, The Mores are a lively little four piece band whose schizophrenic pop songs have been downing audiences around and about for the last couple of years.

With subject matter from life and death to sexuality and gender, The Mores deliver brief, crafted, vulnerable pieces with a knowing spark and a foolish lust.

Painting their sound from the great garden of British pop music -  upright bass and drums spell the days when jazz discovered rock and roll, Metcalfe's keyboard lines adding a pint of brains, with Moore's electric guitar and vocals both radioactive growl and sorrowful throe - their songs are three minute masterpieces of profound, edgy, melodic pop music."

- Oscar Parlour, Paris Match

The Mores in the Ambiguous blog

Dear friends,Read more

I trust you are all very well. It has been a while since I have written. We've had public transport crippling snow, America has a new president and Ambiguous Records have two more releases on the near horizon. Happy days! The first, When a man loves another man by the most excellent Mores is set for release on 20th April 2009.

Today is a good day.

I have just got back the test pressings for AMBIG003 and AMBIG004 (The Mores and Roxy Rawson's next releases) Very exciting indeed. I will shortly be off to Casa Moore to finish the mixes for Alice Gun's upcoming single (AMBIG005) The Swimmer - Robbie from the Mores is a dab hand at the old mixing. And Sam from Alice Gun's band is laying up what should be some very unique artwork with Miss Rawson ce soir for her release.Read more

And so I emerge today with a sore head, aching ears and utter delight. Roxy Rawson and Orphans & Vandals with the help of Robbie & Al (The Mores) and Sam Campari (Alice Gun) on the wheels of Steel utterly rocked the Albert Hall last night. They did us proud and by the looks of things the audience loved it too.

I'll be posting vids on you tube and photos from Marcus Tate and James very soon. Watch this space...

I am very pleased to announce that hush has sold out. We have stretched every last sinew of ticket, pass and blag to get as many of you in as possible and it should be an absolute hum dinger of a night.

I am also delighted to let you know that we now have Sam Campari from the Alice Gun band and Robbie & Al from The Mores supporting their label mates Roxy Rawson and Orphans & Vandals on the wheels of steel. Knowing the depth of these three's vinyl collections, I can not wait.Read more
